First, the arms begin to get loose and the sounds of batting practice crack through the air as both college and professional baseball teams start to come alive in late February.

Not far behind is the youth baseball campaign, and nowhere does it make a bigger splash than the Triple Crown Sports Texas Season Opener, slated for March 3-5 in the Metroplex.

Thanks to TCS’ long history of hosting superior events in and around Dallas, hundreds of teams from ages 8-14 use this event to get an initial look at the roster and its competitive strength after the winter break. For 2017, there will be 421 teams in uniform, playing on 85 fields at 14 different complexes stretching around the Metroplex.

Five other states (Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma) are bringing teams to town. And the Texas element will include very skilled squads from hotbeds like Amarillo, Lubbock, Houston and Austin. This year also marks the debut of the Elite Division, an invite-only bracket for 12u, 13u and 14u that sold out quickly.

“Whether teams are trying to figure out their strengths and weaknesses, or if they crave the toughest competition right out of the gate, the Texas Season Opener provides answers,” said TCS event director Adam Kline. “We’ve been signing teams up for this event since last fall, and we’re thrilled to be back in action in the Southwest. We’ve secured the most trusted field complexes around, and now it’s time to see who can hit the ground running in youth baseball.”

The Texas tournament schedule has three other events on the spring/summer menu – the Lone Star Classic (March 31-April 2), the Texas State Championships (May 26-29), and the Southwest Championships (June 15-18).
